Weigh in motion system (WMS)
Weigh in motion system (WMS) is designed to automatically measure axle loads of a moving vehicle, calculate its gross mass, overall dimensions (length, width, height), axle spacing, count the number of wheels on an axle, determine a vehicle class, identify vehicle registration plate as well as make pictures of a vehicle.
Weigh in motion system is a set of measuring and technical equipment and consists of force-receiving modules (FM), vehicle detection indicators, dimension measurement module (DMM), module for positioning and counting wheel number (tire number) on an axle of a moving vehicle (EMPTY), vehicle photofixation and vehicle registration plate identification module (PIM), electronics cabinet (EC), data communication unit and special software.

Functions WMS

  • Measure vehicle speed and identife vehicle registration plate

  • Determine date and time when a vehicle passes WMS, take pictures of a vehicle when its parameters are measured.

  • Measure axle loads, loads of axle groups and gross vehicle mass

  • Measure overall vehicle dimensions (length, width, height).

  • Count the number of vehicle axles, measure vehicle axle spacing, count the number of wheels (tires) on a vehicle axle

  • Determine a vehicle class (according to EUR 13 or RUS 12 classifications).

  • Detect vehicles which violate the Road Transport Shipping Rules in terms of allowed vehicle weight, allowed vehicle axle loads and maximum allowed vehicle dimensions
